Life in Spokane

Here's just a few photos of our church and Spokane. Isn't it beautiful? We arrived here in June and stayed with the Evans for 6 weeks while we waited for our container to arrive. We were on pins and needles for a few weeks...always a little drama attached to international shipping, but God, as always, made everything work out. Like I said, we stayed with the Evans family...all 13 of us under one roof... and we all still like each other!! It was like staying at a resort in the mountains. Their backyard is nestled up against a hill with huge evergreens and rocks...a great place to have daily devotions.

John got a job with Countrywide again, doing the same type of work. Brianna got a part-time job working for the Spokesman Review in their achieves department and continues to take courses through Citrus College's on-line classes. We found a house to rent near the Hannula's house in the South Hill area of Spokane. It is a beautiful little bungalow-style house. It is in walking distance to a coffee shop (little drive-thru huts ALL over the city), and a library, park, grocery store, bank and post office! It reminds me a little of Brazil, because we lived in walking distance to everything there, too.

We are slowly acclimating to life back in the states. At first, we were very sad to have had to leave Brazil. I felt like returning to the states was "plan B"...because we had planned to stay in Brazil for the rest of our lives! But God gently reminded me that He doesn't have a "plan B"....He is sovereign! He only has "plan A" and it's a good plan; a plan that glorifies Him; a plan that supersedes our plans...no matter how much we thought that it was "for Him". I feel like our experience in Brazil has taught us many things. One in particular is that the lost and needy are all around us if we just open our eyes and commit our days and plans to the Lord...He can use us to share the Gospel almost anywhere! Whether it's in foreign lands or our own neighborhoods, there is ALWAYS someone who needs to hear and see the Gospel.
